Tutorial Spelling

English and Javanese has different spelling in such letters. When you read the Javanese please pay attention to the words in the parenthesis.

Bellow is the explanation how to read Javanese words if your basic language is English.

Vocal Alphabetic

A - will be pronounced like you said "CUP" (will be written U)
I  - will be pronounce like you said    "BEE" (will be written EE)
U - will be pronounce like you said    "BOOK" (will be written OO)
E - will be pronounce like you said    "EDWARD" (will be written E)
O - will be pronounce like you said   "OCTOBER" (will be written O)

BUT! some A, E, and O will be read in different pronunciation. Because sometimes A will be read as O (open O, not sharp O) and E will be read in different E pronunciation (like E in French language) and O have two different pronunciation, it is open O and sharp O. Here, the different spelling will be written with different color to differ which one is real A or O.

Consonant Alphabetic

B      - pronounce B(e) like BEG
C      - pronounce C(e) like CHALK
D      - pronounce D(e) with tounge in your teeth, it is soft D
DH   - pronouce D(e) like DOG, it is sharp D,
(n)D -pronounce with n infront of the D, usually (n) will not be written, it will be written only D, here will be add (n) to show you when you should read (n)D

F    - there is none of F in Javanese
G   - pronounce G(e) like GERALD
H   - pronounce H(a) like HOUSE
J    - pronounce J(e) like JELLY
K   - pronounce K(a) like KILO
L    - pronounce (e)L like LONG
M   - pronounce (e)M like MAMA
N   - pronounce (e)N like NANCY
P    - pronounce P(e) like PAPA
Q   - there is no Q in Javanese
R   - pronounce (e)R like ROCK
S   - pronounce (e)S like SUSAN
T   - pronounce T(e) like TOM
V   - there is none of V in Javanese
W  - pronounce W(e) like Wine
X   - there is no X in Javanese
Y   - pronounce Y(e) like Yoyo
Z   - there is no Z in Javanese
